Leslie Desmond Jennings, MD is a native Texan and was born in San Antonio. He graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with high honors. While at the University of Texas, he was a member of numerous campus organizations including The Longhorn Band and the Texas Cowboys. He was selected as an outstanding student by the student newspaper and yearbook.
Medical Education
Dr. Jennings earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, in Houston, Texas, and completed a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Fellowship Training
Dr. Jennings was selected as a fellow in Sports Medicine and Knee Surgery at the Southern California Center for Sports Medicine in Los Angeles, California. There he trained with Dr. Douglas Jackson who was a pioneer in the field of sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. Dr. Jackson was the first president of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery and has authored many books and scientific articles.
Special Interests
Dr. Jennings began his practice in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine in Plano and Carrollton, Texas. He specializes in joint replacement, as well as sports medicine and general trauma. He is president and founder of the Texas Knee and Sports Medicine Center located at Baylor Medical Center of Carrollton, Texas.
Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Jennings is board certified in Orthopedic Surgery. He also sat for and completed a specialty board certification in Sports Medicine, which is an honor earned by less than 1% of the orthopedic community.
Associations and Memberships
He is currently a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, Texas Medical Association, Denton County Medical Society and Texas Orthopedic Association. He has served as Chairman in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor Medical Center of Carrollton. He served on the Hospital Board.
Dr. Jennings currently resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife Mary Jo Jennings. He is a Texas Longhorn Alumni and supports many charities including The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and Secure Our Seniors Safety.
